Amazon Sr. Hardware Dev Engineer - Memory in 31, China

Description

The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. This position is for a Memory Validation Engineer engineer working with a cross-functional team to validate the memory sub-systems used across the entire range of products developed by Amazon Devices.

Key job responsibilities

In this position, you will ensure the robust operation of memory technologies on products developed by Amazon Lab126.

This includes, but is not limited to:

•Support integration of memory components into the broad range of Amazon HW devices.

•Provide input on memory part selection, schematic and layout reviews.

•Define and execute plans for the functional, signal and power integrity validation of memory sub-systems

•Work with SoC vendors, memory suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to root cause complex memory problems.

•Work with SW engineers to implement and improve existing memory validation tools.

•Work with SI simulation teams to ensure a robust interface design.

•Ensure SoC, DRAM and board interconnects meet JEDEC electrical and functional specifications.

•Evaluate performance metrics (e.g. throughput, endurance) at component and memory sub-system level.

•Review and validate memory calibration sequences.

•Modify and develop automation scripts for data collection and functional testing.

•Summarize and report validation status to cross functional teams and leadership.

•Travel to CM locations to support validation and debug activities (30%)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with DRAM technology (e.g. DDR3, LPDDR3, DDR4, LPDDR4, LPDDR5, DDR5) characterization, validation, and debug

  • Experience with solid state storage technology (e.g. Flash, eMMC, SSD ) characterization, validation, and debug

  • Solid knowledge of EE fundamentals and signal/power integrity principles

  • Experience with high bandwidth oscilloscopes and logic/protocol analyzers

  • Experience with schematic and layout design reviews

  • Experience with scripting languages (preferably Python)

  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous experience with DDR4, LPDDR4, LPDDR5 and eMMC technologies.
    • Experience with memory controllers validation
  • Experience with memory calibration code and algorithms

  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects at the same time

  • Experience with battery powered, wireless, embedded HW/SW consumer devices
