Job Description:

This role is responsible for providing oversight of the business activities associated with the Trust business in the assigned center. Includes coaching and mentoring of direct Trust team, towards the achievement of business development sales goals and a legendary client experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

CUSTOMER

  • Provide leadership and direction to a high performing Private Trust team ensuring the consistent delivery of a legendary client experience

  • Work with Trust leadership team to execute an internal partnership strategy to better allow Wealth businesses to capitalize on internal referral opportunities

  • Identify and present solutions that reflect the client's unique situation by using expertise in estate planning, estate and trust administration, taxation and investment strategy

  • Raise the profile of the Private Trust and PWM team through partner and community involvement

  • Maintain effective relationships with internal partners (Wealth, Retail, Commercial etc.), and external centers of influence to ensure an integrated client offering and effective use of resources

SHAREHOLDER

  • Manage the performance and development of the Private Trust team to ensure a superior employee experience with optimal engagement

  • Contribute to the development of the business plan and operationalize the plan and deliver on assigned service or functionality

  • Work closely with key business leaders to develop business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD’s operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale

  • Track business results and coach to superior performance in the achievement of business and financial targets

  • Ensure programs, policies and practices continue to meet business needs, comply with internal and external requirements, and align with business priorities

  • Ensure department operates in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements

  • Ensure appropriate reporting and escalation of issues based on risk profile

  • Follow and ensure employees are knowledgeable of and comply with Bank and industry codes of conduct

  • Coach employees to deliver on the business service and operating model

  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary

  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

EMPLOYEE / TEAM

  • Responsible for management of the overall team providing both leadership and guidance

  • Set targets and objectives for the team, and deliver results

  • Grow team expertise to align with business/enterprise demand and direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered

  • Lead a high performing team; provide on-going feedback and performance reviews, coach and develop employees and ensure performance management activities are undertaken and completed for all employees

  • Lead the process of setting performance objectives for the team; track, monitor and effectively address and/or reward performance in a timely manner

  • Manage employees in compliance with all human resources policies, procedures and guidelines of conduct

  • Share knowledge, information, skills, and subject matter expertise among the team and ensure the timely communication of issues and encourage good working relationships with other functions and teams

  • Support an environment where team freely escalates business challenges; facilitate change through positive reinforcement of milestones and successes

  • Recruit for all hires to ensure a highly diverse, qualified workforce to achieve business objectives

  • Establish and foster a cohesive team; promote a fair and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce and encourage the team to achieve common goals and objectives

  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Lead and manage a sizeable team of professionals and overall operation of a diverse group in an area of moderate risk, complexity or scope, while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business results

  • Ability to present and make recommendations to senior management and executives

  • Ensure an integrated approach with other business areas, broader organization, and enterprise as appropriate

  • Coordinate and prioritize multiple initiatives and manages resource allocation

  • Establish effective relationships with different Stakeholders, Business Sponsors, Executives and LOB

  • Provide support and contribute to the overall discipline and strategy for respective areas

  • Provide coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of businesses / technology, and organizational practices/ disciplines

  • Sound to advanced knowledge of external competition, industry and/or market trends in relation to own function / business

  • Focus on short to medium-term issues (e.g. 6-12 months)

  • Reports to the Regional Private Trust Manager

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate Degree

  • 10+ years of industry experience

  • Canadian Securities Course

  • TEP – Trust & Estate Practitioner

  • Professional Designations such as MBA, CA, LLB, CFA etc. are desirable, however are not required
