Job Title: Fueler ( 2nd shift, 2:00pm to 10:30pm Monday through Friday ) Reports to: Shop Manager / Assistant Shop Manager Position Type: Full-Time FLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Job Summary:

As a member of the Shop Department, the 2nd shift Fueler at Brooks Construction will assist with the cleaning, fueling and help prep equipment for the next day's work requirements. The individual will assist in the cleaning and organizing the construction equipment, construction vehicles and help keep them supplied but ultimate responsibility remains with the foremen. Double check equipment to make sure it meets safety requirements and maintenance for the next day work schedule, but ultimate responsibility remains with the driver. Incumbent will complete inspection checklist on all vehicles and equipment in the yard on a daily bases. Individual will work closely with the Shop Manager, Foremen, Drivers and Mechanics. Fueler position hours are 2:00pm - 10:30pm Monday through Friday (hours can/will flex with seasonal fluctuations or business needs).

Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):

+ + Daily will pump fuel into various vehicles and pieces of equipment

  • Check tires on all vehicles that are fueled, identifying those needing repairs or replacement

  • Checking headlights, tail lights, and turn signals on all vehicles fueled, identifying those needing repaired

  • Complete daily inspection report on all vehicles and equipment in the yard

  • Filling water wagons

  • Fills water tanks, propane tanks, and diesel and gas supply tanks as needed

  • Locks gas pumps and ensures that all buildings are properly secured

  • Checking and verifying that all gates are locked and closed at the end of the night * May run parts, as needed* Assist others in department as needed* Other duties as assigned

    Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year hands-on labor intensive experience

  • General knowledge of Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) and the walk-around inspection process

  • Must willing & able to get and maintain a valid CDL Driver's License

    Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

    Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job may be considered. Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to lift and carry material weighing up to 75 pounds on a regular basis throughout the day

  • Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders on an occasional basis

  • General knowledge and ability to learn how to operate a forklift, bob cat, excavator, and/or loader on an occasional basis

  • General knowledge of Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) and the walk-around inspection process

  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills including demonstrated success with oral and written communication

  • Proven dependability, organization, problem solving and adaptability skills

  • Sense of urgency and initiative towards action, with ability to learn/work independently as well as with direction

  • Customer service oriented

  • High degree of accuracy, thoroughness and attention to details

  • Ability to work for long periods at an energetic pace with frequent interruptions

    Working Environment:

  • Individual will be working in a shop/yard/field (outside) environment

  • Ability to work in adverse conditions, including rain, snow, extreme heat or cold, water, mud, dust, etc.

  • Individual will be working with internal customers (Foremen, Plant Operators, and Department Management)

  • Individual will spend a majority of their time standing and walking

  • Individual will flex hours with seasonal fluctuations or business needs
