The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the Corporate Financial Services division.

As the Accountant, you will perform a variety of accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.

You will be responsible for the general financial accounting activities of the organization.

Activities include intercompany, accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledger maintenance, joint interest billings, and revenue and asset accounting.

What you'll Work On:

  • Reconcile accounts, prepare and post journal entries, and maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules so that the organization has a full and accurate statement of its financial position.

  • Collect, compile, verify, and analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and accounting statements so that senior management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions.

  • These reports may include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and filings.

  • Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff.

  • Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational areas managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities.

  • Review reconciliations, commitment approvals, Intercompany

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

  • 2+ years progressively responsible Accounting experience

  • Strong Microsoft skills, including use of pivot tables, vlookups and analysis of data using Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large ERP system; SAP preferred

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Requires knowledge of accounting regulations of operational accounting issues.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • CPA preferred but not required

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
