Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. Billing Manager in ABINGDON, Maryland
Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking an experienced, energetic Billing Manager to join our team in Abingdon, Maryland! This is a full-time, office-based position; Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
In this role, you will oversee and facilitate monthly billing operations to include the following:
Management of Billing Staff & Processes
Manage, mentor, and develop billing clerks daily
Allocate workload fairly based on staff experience and complexity
Establish and maintain billing cycle calendars and deadlines
Ensure timely completion of monthly billing
Identify and implement billing process improvements
Oversee retainers, WIP, AIA applications, budgets, fees, and accumulators
Assist with complex billing errors in BST, finding root causes and mentoring staff
Oversee and process invoice revisions as needed
Train staff on error correction and prevention
Conduct root cause analyses of billing revisions
Training and Mentoring PM's
Project and phase setup in accordance with contract
E-billing process
BST Queries/Terminology
Emphasis on collaboration/kick off meetings with PM/Biller/Supervisor for setting up complex and/or long-term projects
Brief overview of BST revenue recognition process and importance/effect of accurate time and expense entry
Brief overview of percent complete process
Work with problem PM's to evaluate better processes/delegation options/work flows that make the billing process more likely to be completed on time
Liaison With Clients/SME on Special Billing Requirements
Assist with new client qualification forms
Serve as SME on client billing portals: set up company profiles, assign roles, ensure compliance for invoice submission, and review/sign invoices/lien releases
Oversee and train accounting staff on third-party portal billing and client-specific billing requirements
Build relationships with complex clients to discuss billing needs, streamline, and expedite processes
Collections
Manage daily cash receipts, payment application, and unapplied payments
Review uncollected A/R to identify billing or invoicing issues
Join collection calls to stay updated on issues and provide communication/training on solutions
Candidate Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
Proven experience managing and developing a billing team
5+ years in billing, preferably in architecture/engineering/planning services
Able to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects
Analytical problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Familiarity with BST Global / BST 10 Billing Trainer and BST 10 Billing (preferred)
Experience with third-party billing platforms
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range: $65,000 to $90,000 annually
