Job Description

The Albany Papermaking Power and Controls Engineer will be responsible to lead and support the execution of Power and Controls projects, working in partnership with contractors, suppliers, and other P&G resources. They will define the scope of Power and Controls projects and specify technology choices in line with equipment standards. They will commission and troubleshoot a variety of controls technologies through project startups and ongoing manufacturing support. Individual will also have responsibilities to ensure technical skills are built within Operations, Maintenance, and Startup Leaders as part of the Technology Transfer and Training for new projects.

Job Qualifications

Job Qualification 1

General Skills on PC&IS technologies:

  • Rockwell Automation Drive Systems – Powerflex 700DC, 755, and 525.

  • PLC Technology - Allen Bradley Controllogix, Modicon Quantum/984, and Triconex.

  • Human Machine Interfaces - Rockwell Automation FTView, Honeywell Experion DCS, Honeywell TDC3000 DCS, and Honeywell Safety manager.

  • Fundamental understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics.

  • Networks – Cisco , and Microsoft Windows Server Technologies.

Machine Control:

  • Machine Sensors and Actuators – Honeywell, Rosemount, and Fisher Controls

  • Machine Safety Fundamentals - SIL systems as related to burner management systems

  • Electrical safety standards – NEC and NFPA.

Process Control Optimization:

  • Process tuning and performance analytics. Entech, Honeywell, or similar tuning application.

Manufactured Applied Information Technology:

  • Industry standard Networking, Cybersecurity, and Virtualization.

Power Systems:

  • Global/Regional/Local Electrical Design. Experience with Electrical Specifications,

    electrical safety. Safe and installation practices. Grounding. Codes and Standards
  • Understanding of Low and Medium Voltage Distribution and Motors.

Job Qualification 2

Leadership and communication skills. Ability to set and follow standards and discipline to follow our DDSs.

Job Qualification 3

Teamwork/ Collaboration: Ability to work across disciplines and departments to build consensus and align technical scope.

Job Qualification 4

Ability and technical curiosity to understand the technical issues and resolve. Ability to deal with cost and scheduling constraints.

Job Qualification 5

Understands and follows Safe Work practices for electrical systems and mechanical equipment. Understands and communicate the risks.
