Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing short term, intensive help to parents/caregivers of Schenectady City School District students to address salient issues relating to social predictors of health, including: housing, food supply, financial insecurities, transportation, and accessing public assistance such as Medicaid.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Engagement with parents/caregivers identified by Schenectady School District as needing additional community support.

  • Provide families with information pertaining to resources in the community for services, ongoing support and linkages.

  • Assist parents/caregivers in identifying any barriers to accessing community resources.

  • Assist parents/caregivers with documentation and other steps needed to access resources and support from either public or private entities.

  • Provide strategies and intervention suggestions to parents/caregivers whose challenges create safety concerns for their children.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with school personnel so that efforts to support the parent/caregiver are not duplicated.

  • Participate in regular team meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience

    Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent

    Provisional or Permanent Family Peer Credential

    Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience and knowledge of community resources

    Certification / Licensure

    Must have a valid driver’s license.
