Job Title: Management Trainee

Reports to: Human Resources Assistant Vice President

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: NE15

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

SUMMARY:

The Management Trainee will rotate through selected internal departments of the Bank with the purpose of learning its duties and functions. During the rotation, if a department where the Trainee has visited were to have an open position, the Management Trainee may be recommended to fill the open position. If at the end of the department rotation no suitable openings are available, the Management Trainee will start training at Trustco University with the intent of a smooth transition into a Branch Management position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor and/or Trustco Bank’s Board of Directors.

  • Learns line and staff functions, operations, management viewpoints and company policies and procedures that affect each section of the bank.

  • Observes experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standard required for performance of departmental duties.

  • Receives training in functions and operations of departments to facilitate subsequent transferability between departments and to provide feedback and improvements.

  • Acts in the place of absent employee if necessary.

  • Complete written assessment of each department experience.

  • Completes tasks that are assigned by each department.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent level of education and experience.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to time sensitive deadlines.

  • Ability to work well independently and in groups.

  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs; Excel and Word.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in business related field.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS:

This is a full-time position. Office hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL:

Travel using personal vehicle. Valid driver’s license required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace ; bilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
