GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Patient Access Lead is a working lead who is responsible for assisting the Patient Access Supervisor (PAS) in overseeing the daily duties of the Patient Access Representative (PAR) teams, answering questions and training staff, coordinating staffing schedules, auditing the team’s work and re-educating in all responsibilities associated with the prompt and professional registration, check in and check out of OrthoNY patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and organizes daily responsibilities and schedules of the PAR teams, providing support where needed;

  • As a working member of the team, has the ability to assist and cross cover as needed in any of their responsibilities or locations;

  • Prepares staffing schedules to ensure proper coverage;

  • Trains new staff, assessing team needs and determines retraining as needed;

  • Performs staff audits and reeducation as needed;

  • Reviews daily balances and copays collected to ensure the team is meeting standard KPIs as set by the supervisors/manager;

  • Extensive understanding of health insurances, patient registration/scheduling, and balances;

  • Accounts for and compiles team’s financial batches for the day, ensuring that they are accurate, complete and properly ordered;

  • Monitors lines to ensure patients aren’t waiting unnecessarily, and redirecting them as needed;

  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and complies with HIPAA standards;

  • Maintains a neat and organized workspace, and restocks supplies as needed;

  • Travels to other offices as needed for coverage;

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma required; some higher education preferred;

  • 1+ year supervisory experience preferred;

  • Knowledge of medical insurances required;

  • Exceptional customer service skills required;

  • Experience working with an EMR/PM required;

  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail;

  • Quick thinker with ability to pivot in a fast-paced environment;

  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume environment is a must;

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle for needed travel.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • This position will require a combination of long periods of sitting and standing with repetitive hand movements (typing), occasional bending and twisting and occasional carrying and/or lifting up to 20 pounds.

  • This is a 40 hour/week position with occasional overtime.

  • This position may require travel to any other OrthoNY location when needed. Reliable transportation is essential
