In this position...

We are backfilling the Supervisor of Safety, Body, Chassis Test Prep Operations to lead our Safety Prep Team embedded at Roush 9 facility. The Supervisor will manage all Body, Seats, Chassis and Safety prep workstreams to enable body/chassis/safety test labs to meet program milestones with quality and within budget.

This is an onsite position in Allen Park, MI.

What you'll do...

  • Work seamlessly with the Crash Barrier (CBB), Safety Innovation Lab (SIL), Building 4 (B4), external test labs as well as Vehicle Evaluation and Validations (VEV), EV S/O & functional engineering teams to deliver ready-to-test properties with quality, efficiency and on time to meet program milestones.

  • Develop, manage, maintain, and leverage a strong working relationship with our strategic partner Roush Industries

  • Develop yearly Safety Prep PO - and actively manage spending efficiently - leveraging mechanic / technician / fabricator flexing wherever possible, while maintaining the skill level of the prep team.

  • Lead Seat prep and R9 DA testing. Close partnership with Seats VEV s/o, Seat Engineering and labs to ensure on time program delivery with quality.

  • Lead and manage seat fixture design and build to support seat critical DV testing and program milestones.

  • Support DV Efficiency and Safety/Body/Chassis Lean workstreams

  • Manage fabrication team - exploring and implementing efficiencies in buck builds, IP fabrications for TPV testing and other potential needs for up front early X1 type test preps

  • Develop experience and expertise in smart vehicle system electrical and software trouble shooting and HV Battery handling to support prep throughput.

  • Drive quality operating system - TGW feedback closed loop processes with B4, CBB, SIL, Seats

  • Actively manage test parts warehouse site FM1CP for lean operations and efficiency

  • Support PD Health & Safety and cascade any lessons learned to the onsite safety prep team and to Roush.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of experience that includes Product Development Operations, Functional Engineering and/or Test experience.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience leading teams that include organization, planning and people skills.

Even better, you may have...

  • MBA, or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering or related field.

  • Specific safety / body testing experience (safety / body functional engineering experience

  • In depth knowledge of passive safety / body / chassis test requirements

  • Specific Safety functional engineering experience

  • Systems Engineering experience.

  • Resource planning, budgeting, and project management experience
