Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Technology Planner, Field Coordination Position

As a Technology Planner for Field Coordination, is a project coordinator responsible for the overall coordination of all technology projects that require work in Colonial Field locations. The Technology Planner for Field Coordination resource ensures proactive and timely communication with field team members regarding the execution of field technology projects to ensure minimal disruption to day-to-day operations and minimizing the impact to field resources.

What You Get to Do:

  • Serve as the single point of contact for all technology managers, projects managers, scrum masters, etc. for consolidating overall technology field access and field resource needs across all projects and other work efforts.

  • Identify opportunities to coordinate project activities to minimize disruption at field locations.

  • Identify opportunities to combine SOW’s for location walkthroughs based on similar activities that will be performed at a location over a period.

  • Work with the Planning and Optimization team to map upcoming technology projects to other scheduled maintenance activities to minimize operations and field resource disruption for technology projects.

  • Work with the Enterprise PMO team to layer in the field optimization into the overall enterprise view of projects.

  • Work with the Finance Manager on the overall Technology portfolio view and where field participation and/or outages are needed.

  • Actively coordinate the scheduling with Technology projects requiring any operational impact with scheduling team.

  • Work with specific Technology teams regarding their initiatives (Infrastructure, App Dev, Security, Projects, etc.).

  • Coordinate with Technology, the Optimization team and field locations as project schedules are adjusted or scope changes.

  • Measure the impact of the coordination in reduced field resource time and outages over time.

  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of all field projects to all stakeholders and escalate to management as needed.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s Degree computer science, business, engineering, or in a related field of study from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.

  • Ideally, 4+ years of project coordination experience.

  • Experience working with geographically diverse field locations.

  • Experience working on projects and portfolio management tools.

  • Experience keeping key projects and programs aligned with overall business strategy and effectively deliver on commitments.

  • Proven experience communicating and presenting to mid-level to senior leaders.

  • Commitment to consistently adhere to policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the Company’s core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence in completing work assignments.
