Role Summary/Purpose:

The Sourcing Commodity Leader, Technology will develop, execute, and own the sourcing commodity strategy for the Technology functions which span across Synchrony. The candidate will partner with the Technology teams and be an integral part of developing the sourcing strategy to deliver on cost reductions, supplier consolidation, supplier oversight, and manage/mitigate supplier and business risks. The Sourcing Leader will also be responsible for developing strong cross functional relationships, executing the sourcing process, ensuring supplier compliance during on-boarding and renewal time periods and negotiating the contractual agreements of assigned suppliers. In this role, you will deliver bottom line savings to the business, manage and mitigate supplier risk as well as business risks, and work closely with the Technology functional leaders and their teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a commodity sourcing strategy and operating plan for assigned categories & suppliers working cross functionally to ensure alignment with business strategies, goals, and objectives

  • Lead category sourcing with autonomy and accountability over buy and cost reduction targets.

  • Develop, implement, and lead overall supplier strategy for assigned suppliers ensuring sourcing process integrity, business protections, optimizing productivity, and supplier performance.

  • Provide leadership to Technology functional teams with strong process responsibility to develop comprehensive supplier / buyer contractual relationships to meet the business needs.

  • Execute on cost reduction targets, supplier consolidation and partner with the assigned function to drive commodity strategies across the function and Synchrony

  • Ensure sourcing process integrity for the categories & suppliers you own; Develop comprehensive supplier / buyer contractual relationships to meet the business needs and leverage professional expertise with Legal and business owners to negotiate and draft commercial agreements with appropriate business protections, supplier performance metrics and productivity optimization

  • Utilize competitive tools to leverage competition and drive cost reductions across Technology

  • Leverage professional expertise with Legal and business owners to negotiate and draft comprehensive commercial agreements.

  • Conduct RFPs, vendor research and identification, qualification and competitive analysis of required products and services.

  • Develop and implement sourcing operating plan and growth playbook information for assigned categories and suppliers working closely with Technology functional teams to ensure alignment with business strategies, goals, and objectives.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

  • Able to travel up to 25%

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience within IT or Technology Sourcing/Supply Chain or related function with ability to demonstrate strong leadership, execution, and significant business and bottom-line contributions. OR In lieu of bachelor’s degree, 10 plus years of progressive experience within IT or Technology Sourcing/Supply Chain or related function with ability to demonstrate strong leadership, execution, and significant business and bottom-line contributions.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience working in the Financial Services Industry.

  • 4+ years of Sourcing experience managing IT or Technology processes/projects (including Network, Cloud, Information Security, AI, Telecom, Software, and Hardware)

  • Proven strong facilitation skills and experience delivering presentations.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills at all levels of the organization.

  • High enthusiasm and desire to work in fast paced, ever changing environment.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities with little supervision.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong commercial skills and ability to interact with suppliers

  • Must have demonstrated project management skills.

  • Strong PC proficiency (Microsoft Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) or comparable software application.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 - 170,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
