The role you’ll contribute:

The Regional ADA Specialist is responsible for establishing and developing trusted relationships with local Leadership, HR Business Partners, Compliance Officers and Legal. Leads the day-to-day administration of disability related matters for assigned multi-facility locations to include consultation, education and execution on ADA matters. Facilitates initiatives to foster a positive employee relations environment that aligns with the mission and values of AdventHealth. This individual serves as the subject matter expert responsible for ADA matters, which includes, but is not limited to: reporting, identifying and recommending solutions, when team members seek an accommodation under the ADA. Utilizes multiple electronic systems to provide solution.

  • Serves as the subject matter expert and is the “main point of contact" with respect to employment laws related to ADA and appropriately applies information to each matter.

  • Creates legally sound solutions to complex cases and maximizes opportunities for success of team member and the business.

  • Maintains a close working relationship with all teams.

  • Documents all ADA matters as appropriate for the situation and in accordance with legal compliance and organizational policies and procedures within the case management system.

  • Orients new facility leaders to the processes and philosophy of the ADA accommodation process.

  • Stays current on employment law.Proactively researches information to ensure compliance, provide appropriate consultation, and avoid/eliminate exposure to the organization.

  • Stays current on state insurance privacy laws and HIPPA to appropriately safeguard confidential and medical information.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with Leave of Absence Vendor, clinical experts and legal to evaluate RTW status for team members.

  • Determine eligibility and availability of leave time for each team member requesting leave and generate appropriate communications to comply with AdventHealth Leave Policy and ADA regulations.

  • Manage the interaction between the team member, facility leaders and/or physician. The process includes, but is not limited to, obtaining the appropriate forms to be signed, providing education about AdventHealth’s role, the manager’s role, and the team member’s role in obtaining assistance, and facilitating discussions as needed to reach a decision.

  • Obtain and review medical information to determine whether to provide a reasonable accommodation to team member.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Human Resources, or relevant field required

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Benefits or Human Resources experience required focusing on ADA related matter from start to finish

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required

  • Proficiency in disability management, leave management, disability case management, or human resources

  • Working knowledge in legal issues pertaining to ADA, FMLA and state leave laws

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Five (5) years of Benefits or Human Resources experience required focusing on ADA related matter from start to finish

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation or equivalent preferred
