Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. These are full-time, 9-month positions with salary commensurate with qualifications.
The successful candidates will join a department with active research programs in pharmacology, neurobiology, vaccine development, parasitology and other infectious disease. These individuals will be expected to establish a dynamic, extramurally-funded research program within these or a complementary field pertinent to human and/or animal health. The successful candidates will also teach physiology or related biomedical courses to professional and/or graduate students and will mentor graduate students.
Required Minimum Qualifications
PhD with research experience relevant to Biomedical Sciences
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success obtaining extramural funding.
Research plans relevant to biomedical sciences.
Evidence of effective research mentoring experience.
Strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals relative to appointment.
Teaching engagement at a university or professional school.
Department & College Description
The Biomedical Sciences department supports the mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine by teaching basic science curriculum to veterinary medical students, conducting state-of-the-art basic and translational research relevant to the health of animals and humans, and educating graduate students through both the departmental graduate program and several multidisciplinary interdepartmental programs at Iowa State University. Departmental faculty have active research programs in a range of One Health disciplines including pharmacology, neurobiology, microbial and helminth infectious disease and vaccine development.
