We are currently recruiting for an ESG regulatory & strategy specialist within MUFG Bank Europe in Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Brussels or Madrid

The MBE subsidiary based in The Netherlands is a network of branches (Germany Branch (Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich), Spain Branch (Madrid, Barcelona), Belgium Branch (Brussels), Austria Branch (Vienna)), managed from Amsterdam.

Your impact at MUFG

This role support the Bank’s central ESG function and help ensure we can realise our overall ESG ambitions. As a member of the Planning Function assist in developing and implementing the Bank’s ESG regulatory requirements and strategic direction. With CSRD on the horizon, this role will be essential to embed relevant requirements into MBE (ESG) policies and strategy especially. The function will work very closely with other teams, such as finance, risk management, front office or HR in the development of CSRD-related (and other) deliverables to fulfil the regulatory requirements and embed these in the Bank’s overall ESG strategy. The function is part of the planning division that reports to the Chief Strategy & Planning Officer and works very closely with the MUFG Head Office for alignment on anything ESG and sustainability.

Reports into the head of ESG (Planning & Strategy).

The role includes the following:

Essential Functions*:

  • Support the Head of ESG (Planning & Strategy) in the overall development of ESG deliverables to meet our internal and external requirements

  • Interpret ESG regulatory developments as a first assessment point for any such requirement that may impact the Bank to obtain an initial impact assessment and subsequently work with impacted divisions on the implementation of any new requirement

  • Be a go-to-person for any generalist ESG knowledge within the Bank, so you can support other divisions in their ESG journey and implementations

  • Shape ESG policies & strategy documents in line with our material ESG topics

  • Support the preparation & smooth operations of the MBE ESG committee, the Bank’s central governance body for all key (strategic) ESG decisions

  • Coordination of the implementation of the ESG/sustainability initiatives driven by MUFG global and EMEA

The tasks described above, apply to the business of the MBE Amsterdam office and its branches.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • University degree in sustainability management, economics, business management or any other relevant field, preferably with a focus on sustainability

  • Additional post-graduate ESG/ climate risk/ sustainability qualifications are considered a plus

  • 3-5 years job experience in banking or financial services required (internal or as an external advisor)

  • At least 3 years jobs experience in ESG/ sustainability management (in a financial services context) preferred

  • Very good familiarity with key ESG regulatory developments in the EU (in a financial institution context)

  • Awareness of and ability develop key ESG policy or strategy requirements (derived from our materiality assessment, for instance) to steer the bank’s overall direction of ESG

  • Hands-on attitude and strong sense of ownership

  • Very good collaboration skills to work closely with other teams, where ESG touches their expertise or remit

The below is applicable for the Amsterdam office

  • Gross salary based on experience and consistent with the market

  • 8% holiday allowance and 13th month payment.

  • 30 vacation days per year. Optional you can buy 15 additional days.

  • Commuting allowance based on annual public transport 2nd class, most economical way, or € 0,23 per km with a max of 75km one way.

  • €5,00 net remote working compensation per day, with a maximum of €60,00 per month.

  • Possibility to order a mobile phone (up to €800,-)

  • Possibility to order Office Equipment’s for the home office, (up to €500,-)

  • Remote Working Policy i.e. Working From Home (WFH) and Remote Working in another Country.
