As Experience Design Director Beauty , you have the opportunity to

Lead a winning cross-competence Design team that is well integrated and recognized in the Philips Personal Health Grooming and Beauty (G&B) business. The Experience Design Director role is considered key in the development of Beauty products and solutions.

In this role you will:

  • Drive solution creation, thinking holistically in eco-systems and end-to-end experiences covering product, digital solutions, packaging, and communication from direction setting to feasibility checks in implementation.

  • Create user-focused strategies, innovations, and experiences leveraging user testing and validation, considering usability, sustainability, and appropriate visual and verbal articulation in line with Design Language System and Brand guidelines.

  • Drive operational excellence and efficiency, delivering appropriate design quality within budget and project parameters.

  • Be a Partner and co-creator with internal and external stakeholders, with clear and impactful communication and articulation of design decision-making.

  • Challenge the status quo to inspire innovation and a step-up in value towards the user.

You are responsible for

Providing creative and team leadership in all development phases like value proposition creation, advanced development, platform creation, and product development. As leader of a category Design team, you can also find yourself contributing to holistic business Design Strategies, Portfolio frameworks and Business-specific Design Language Systems. In this context, your responsibilities include:

Strategy. Synthesize relevant people, business, and market insights for the category program, in line with overall business design program objectives. Translating business goals into design goals in consultation with the Business Design Leader.

Creation. Lead the creative output of a multi-disciplinary business category team, orchestrating solutions and experiences across touchpoints (product, digital, packaging, in-store) and working with business peers to define the creative vision for a category within overall set G&B business design platforms and quality standards.

Process/delivery. Drive operational excellence and efficiency of the category design team in context of the E2E process, taking responsibility for the design quality of the delivery, and reporting output to the Design Leader and respective business category teams.

Inspiration. Call out the voice of the consumer. Inspire change towards internal and external stakeholders, with clear and impactful communication and articulation of category experience strategy and design direction.

People and team management. Lead and people manage a medium-sized team, foster effective teamwork to deliver on business and quality objectives, give guidance to team members, and be respectful and inclusive in driving performance and quality.

Quality. Adhere to (cross) business Design quality standards. Champion harmonized experiences through platforms to ensure the most consistent and quality consumer experience along with the most effective development and implementation of design elements.

To succeed in this role

You need a consumer-first attitude, end-to-end experience mindset, and meet the following criteria:

  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree level in product or product-interaction design.

  • You have>10 years of relevant experience in one or more relevant business domains and in one or more markets and cultures.

  • You are a ‘T-shaped’ Design leader with a proven track record in orchestrating end-to-end experiences (cross Product, UX, user interaction, and service design).

  • You have excellent analytical & conceptual skills to increase domain knowledge, create relevant insights leading to meaningful and innovative solutions that appropriately address user-needs.

  • You have successfully led multidisciplinary teams and partnered with functional leaders in product, digital, and communication design to develop fully integrated new propositions from start to end.

  • You preferably have experience with design for Lean / Agile development Coach and motivate a team.

  • You have experience in leading product and solution design processes from idea all the way to technical realization.

  • You have in-depth knowledge of designing small or stand-alone electronic devices including product and service combinations.

  • You are able to create effective visual languages and understand the meaning and effect of these on the brand, audience, market, and culture.

  • You are continuously aware of current trends through fashion, art, design, and digital-related products through market research.

  • You have a professional, ambitious, and collaborative mindset.

  • You have a strong narrative ability in visual, verbal, and written communication.

  • You communicate fluently in English. Chinese (Mandarin) is a plus, and you are able to cooperate with and influence business stakeholders.
