ENGINEER (AUTEC-2023-19629):

Bowhead seeks a USCG Licensed Engineer (4000 HP or Greater) to operate Navy vessels out of Andros Island Bahamas supporting the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC). The Vessel Engineer will work to work as part of a close knit team, as well as independently, to accomplish a range of maritime functions as you support AUTEC.

  • This position will require full time relocation to the island.The work is 5 days a week 50 hour work weeks. We cover the flight there and lodging is covered by the Navy as you would live there on the base. We submit and hold your security clearance. We have a reimbursement program to help offset a majority if not all of the costs shipping what you want in your room.*

Responsibilities

As a member of the team you will: Operate AUTEC's marine vessel Propulsion Systems and associated marine equipment, when not operating assigned vessel you will perform maintenance duties to ensure vessel readiness or fill in to operate other vessel engineering systems. The Vessel Engineer will ensure that the vessel engineering systems are prepared and ready to depart to meet the assigned schedule.

  • Responsible for the safe operation of the propulsion plants of small craft and ocean going vessels up to and over 160' in length. Conducting pre-evolution briefs, Safety Briefs, Shipboard Drills such as man-overboard, fire and flooding casualty drills Must have experience in supervising and conducting engine inspections and preventative maintenance system documentation and maintaining appropriate historical records. Must have experience in routine vessel operations PLUS the following:

  • Routine engineering operations

  • Preventative / corrective maintenance to engineering equipment

  • Deck repairs and modifications

  • Shipboard safety measures (firefighting, basic first-aid and emergency shipboard systems)

Qualifications

  • USCG Chief Engineer License 4000 HP or higher required with STCW 95 endorsement.

  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identity Card) required.

  • Military experience is a PLUS. Familiarity with US Navy PMS System a Plus. Ability to conduct planned maintenance on all marine vessel engineering systems. Submit reports, develop trend analysis on high failure components and make recommendations for repairs or replacement. Maintain all logs and records, submit lube oil analysis of Main Engines and Generator Sets. Oversee fuel and lube oil onloads - Tankerman Certificates or endorsement a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

  • Work in all weather conditions, Hot and Loud Environments

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to maintain or obtain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
