The Role
Lumen is embarking on a multi-year journey to modernize and more forward with Microsoft Azure. We are looking for an outgoing energetic person to help pave the way to our exciting new future. The Principal Cloud Architect will be a key member of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE). Will provide best practices on secure foundational cloud implementations, leading automated provisioning of infrastructure and applications, cloud-ready architectures, and more.

The Main Responsibilities
This leader helps serve the team by:
Design and build secure, highly scalable, multi-tier, single/multi-tenant cloud infrastructure solutions on platforms such as Azure and AWS, aligning them with the company's business objectives.
Participate in meetings and conferences to gather requirements and discuss architectural decisions.
Apply a thorough understanding of deploying and managing application lifecycles to interpret customer business needs and processes.
Build fully automated CI/CD pipelines.
Refine, evangelize, and deliver on Lumen’s multi-cloud operating model vision and strategy
Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud infrastructure and services, providing root cause analysis and preventive measures.
Partner in the delivery of cloud-based technical architectures, migration approaches, and application optimizations that enable business objectives
Evolve and drive our automation capabilities by enabling a DevOps and SRE culture
Hands on-Technical lead to guide, mentor, and coach
What We Look For in a Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems or related field or the equivalent in training and experience
8+ years’ experience designing, building, and deploying scalable cloud-based solutions in Azure
4+ years’ experience in combined roles of cloud engineer, infrastructure engineer, DevOps engineering, SRE or application development
5 years of scripting language development experience (BASH) or infrastructure as code technologies (Terraform, Pulumi, Bicep, etc.).
Expertise with automating infrastructure provisioning and/or continuous integration/delivery
Experience one or more languages, such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, C++, or similar
Excellent experience in the application of cloud architectures and IT security principles
Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

$135,060 - $180,080 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY
$141,820 - $189,090 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$148,570 - $198,090 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
