MMC Database Engineer in ANYWHERE, United States

The Database Engineer is responsible for the integration of various platforms, both internally and externally developed, into an efficient omni-channel platform. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Meet MMC’s standards for application and database development. Work in various team workflows including Agile and Waterfall. Work with functional groups and project management to ensure that the plan reflects the milestones and timing of the projects. Document technical designs using Erwin diagrams, flowcharts, data flow diagrams, descriptive software component documentation, etc. as required. Design, review, analyze, and provide feedback on data models, ETL, and application processes designed to meet the business use cases and workflows. Develop database objects, including tables, views, functions, and stored procedures to support business processes. Maintain data management compliance and best practices. Evaluation of data sets to determine keys and other relationships within the dataset and recommend structures and processes based on the data and business needs. Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve database and application performance issues. Manage and monitor database backups. Manage SQL servers, monitor usage and make and execute efficiency changes. Deploy changes to production databases. Troubleshooting issues with automated processes and executing changes as needed. Performs code review sessions with other developers and suggests improvements or alternative strategies when appropriate. Work with internal teams to perform maintenance and upgrades to SQL Servers. Creation and maintenance of testing of ETL and data processing processes. Review business requirements and suggest solutions based on industry and MMC best practices. Learn and implement new software and hardware tools as appropriate. Support internal hardware and software applications through problem-solving/ recommendations. Collaborate with other teams and subject matter experts across the business to implement and enforce compliance with best practices, policies, and procedure. Must maintain and keep the confidentiality of all customers, clients, and company information in accordance with the confidentiality agreement signed at the commencement of employment with MMC. Core Competencies & Experience: At least 5 years of experience developing applications in MS SQL and ETL processes. Knowledge of SalesForce and different ETL techniques a plus. Knowledge using the following languages and technologies are required: Required Languages: TSQL, JSON, XML, JavaScript, C#, and others as needed. Required Technologies: Microsoft SQL Server 2017; Azure Dev Ops., Always On Availability Groups, GIT, and other continuous development tools, Microsoft Office, and others as needed. Ability to work independently or within a group, designing workflows and procedures to support the company’s operating standards and procedures. Ability to systematically gather and analyze information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable, alternative solutions to a question or problem, or evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, committed to excellence. Must be able to set, implement and enforce priorities and plans to achieve desired results. Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a cool outlook. Thriving in an environment that never stops is a must. Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree with 5+ years of programming experience or equivalent.
