Description
Do you have experience representing multinational companies on data privacy and cyber security issues, solving complex privacy issues, and developing governance frameworks and processes to comply with global privacy laws? If so, you may be the person we’re looking for to serve as Privacy Counsel for Amazon Web Services. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more. As Privacy Counsel, you’ll work with lawyers and business leaders throughout the AWS organization to prepare for and comply with new or evolving privacy laws and regulations, help build innovative new products and services, and develop the organization’s long-term strategy for privacy.
Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
5+ full years of legal experience (with at least two years at a law firm and two years focused on privacy, data protection, or related regulatory matters) as an attorney.
Experience with global privacy laws, including European and U.S. law.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
Understanding of internet services and applications and related technologies.
Experience advising on privacy legal issues related to cloud computing services.
Ability to set, drive strategy, and provide guidance to the team.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous situations.
Ability to work cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholders.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
