The Workplace Health and Safety Global Mobility Team is seeking a Sr. Program Manager (PM). This role will drive Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) and Mobile equipment strategic initiatives and business partnerships, across all business units. This leader will support the WGM vision and strategy to drive consistency in managing our safety risks across WW Operations. This role will partner with all PIT stakeholder teams and customers to drive a systematic approach to address risk and the management of mitigation strategies through engineering solutions.

To support this, WHS Global Mobility (WGM) is looking for a passionate, results-oriented Mobility and Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) program manager to define and implement PIT initiatives. You will be responsible for driving large-scale PIT, mobile elevating work platform (MEWP), and autonomous mobility robotics (AMR) programs that continuously improve associate safety at Amazon. This role will implement and refine PIT, MEWP, Autonomously Guided Vehicles (AGVs), and other mobility equipment standards and policies with business unit leaders. You will work with business units to understand specific PIT, MEWP, and autonomous robotics operational risks, assist in the development of mobility operational safety processes, identify new mobility technology solutions and then work with engineering/operational teams to deliver them.

Key job responsibilities

• Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional and federal regulations and company policy.

• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon WHS Policies.

• Measure global performance against published requirements in WHS policies.

• Analyze global PIT metrics and review incident trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the WHS risk is highest.

• Perform on-site WHS audits to identify all non-compliant equipment and/or processes at the site. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at other sites. Review all changes to ensure new equipment and process are compliant.

• Manage PIT and autonomous mobility projects that improve operational safety.

• Deep dive PIT incident and injury data weekly to target at risk processes and develop improvement projects to address risks.

• Develop PIT and mobility score card for network using truck telemetry data.

• Coordinate with global PIT and mobility Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to define and implement best operational practices.

• Review proposed modifications to building designs that affect PIT and autonomous robotics operations

• Work with all Amazon business units using PIT and mobility equipment to ensure their needs are met.

• Create standardized mobility equipment use training modules for each Amazon business unit.

• Research and evaluate PIT and mobility equipment technology options and weigh the cost and benefit analysis.

• Develop strong working relationships with Amazon PIT and mobility equipment vendors.

• Develop strong working relationships with operational Business Units (BU) and PIT and mobility equipment partners within Amazon.

• Define requirements for new PIT and mobility equipment initiatives and ensure operational requirements are met prior to deployment.

• Manage PIT Request For Quote (RFQ) documentation to ensure vendors are aligned with our mobility requirements.

• Lead WGM continuous improvement team calls and site visits.

• Author reports as content owner for executive leadership such as WBR, MBR, QBR, or OBR documents.

About the team

• Daily field request and change management review and approvals

• Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) and Mobile Equipment project ownership and reporting

• Ownership for technical and baseline PIT and Mobile Equipment risk assessment execution and validation

• PIT incident review, deep diving and mitigation support

• Cross-departmental stakeholder meeting ownership

• Policy and procedure implementation and sustainment

• Routine field and site visits for PIT initiatives and standard work

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • 5+ years of delivering cross functional projects experience

  • 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • Experience in complex problem solving, and working in a tight schedule environment

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Experience defining and executing program requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Safety, or other Safety related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources or related field

  • Experience serving as a technical expert for OSHA, ANSI and similar regulatory standards

  • Possess knowledge and experience in OSHA 1910.178 and ANSI B56.1 standards

  • Experience leading risk programs, setting the program’s objectives, and driving improvements through quantified metrics

  • Working knowledge and experience with: NRTL, CE, CUE, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, ANSI56.5, NFPA 79, UL 508A, IEC 6020

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
