GE Vernova’s Gas Power business engineers advanced, efficient natural gas-powered technologies and services, along with decarbonization solutions that aim to help electrify a lower carbon future. As part of the Gas Power One Field Services team, FieldCore installs, maintains and upgrades power generation equipment, enabling operators of the world’s energy infrastructure to provide more reliable and affordable energy.

FieldCore is looking for an engaged and driven Welder to join our team based in Greece.

Let’s Talk about the Role

Welder is primarily responsible for joining steel plate and pipe products but also competent in using mechanical tools for cutting, profiling, and shaping components with the required detail and precision. Welder will be able to undertake welding operations including the preparation and execution stipulated within the welding procedure specification (WPS) within a manner that ensure safety is always maintained. You may also at times be assigned to other duties to proactively drive our FieldCore vision and to align with our organization’s core values.

How You Will Make a Difference:

• Use materials efficiently and safely using common welding processes i.e., TIG (GTAW), MMA (SMAW) & MIG/MAG (GMAW).

• Must be proficient in understanding mechanical drawings.

• Ability to use mechanical tools (grinders) to shape, contour, and dress weld metal.

• While in the workplace, responsible for both quality and safety.

• Capable of using hand grinders to grind weld back to original shape and contour.

• Review quality documents as required.

• Safely operate gas heating torches for the purpose of preheat or material removal.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Travel may be required, domestically and internationally.

• Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments.

Special Role Requirements:

• Further academic qualification i.e., Advanced modern apprenticeship, NVQ 3 in Welding & Fabrication.

• Experience of power generation (Gas/Steam turbines) and associated equipment.

• English language

Skills for Success

A formal education is good to have, but we are most interested in your total experience, professional achievements, and your can-do attitude.

• Able to successfully perform all requirements of the job properly.

• Possess advanced skills and apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization.

• Have the ability to effectively operate jacking fixtures/porta power, cranes, forklifts oxygen and acetylene torches/propane.

• Experience in welding/grinding of Turbine components and Tig Welding.

• Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and complete multiple projects within time constraints.

• Strong organizational skills
