We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead a highly energetic team working on Purview integration in Office. You will be responsible for building and delivering innovative solutions that enable customers to discover, classify, and protect their sensitive data across hybrid and heterogeneous data sources. You will work with a diverse set of stakeholders, including customers, partners, engineering teams, and senior leaders, to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Information Protection domain in Purview. You will also mentor and grow a team of talented engineers who are passionate about data governance and security.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical efforts of the Information Protection domain in Purview, ensuring alignment with the overall Purview vision and engineering standards.

  • Collaborate with other engineering teams, product managers, and designers to deliver end-to-end customer scenarios and features.

  • Engage with customers and partners to understand their needs, challenges, and feedback, and incorporate them into the product roadmap and backlog.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer obsession.

  • Represent your features’ needs and those of your team in planning and prioritization conversations and report your progress and challenges to leadership.

  • Coach and mentor engineers at various career stages to perform at their best and grow their careers.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of engineering management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and grow teams.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • Compelling communication skills and experience working across disciplines and functions.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
