[About this opportunity: [This position is responsible for Providing an advanced level of technical support to Territorial Headquarters staff in the use/application of computer technology based on proficient knowledge of the information technology structure and applications utilized by The Salvation Army including Windows networks, O365 applications, HP and Apple systems, and Outlook; answers questions, resolves complaints, repairs equipment, changes software configurations, installs new hardware and peripherals and other duties to ensure that requests for service are addressed in an efficient, timely and courteous manner.   • Provides an advanced level of technical support and problem-solving assistance to all computer users on-site and in the field via telephone or on-site visits; works independently to diagnose and resolve complex problems and determines if a problem is within the software program, client application, or hardware.
  • Serves as technical lead on assigned IT projects; plans and manages personal workload to effectively meet the goals established for assigned projects; serves as technical resource to other IT staff involved or associated with the project; reports progress to supervisor routinely and notifies supervisor of barriers in accomplishing goals in a timely manner.
  • Sets up and installs personal computers and peripheral equipment independently and instructs other technical support staff in doing the same; builds and installs cable, connect hardware, tests hardware for proper operation, and installs software to recognize and utilize hardware; troubleshoots problems associated with the Windows, 365, and Internet interface; provides user support.

[What we are looking for in you:]{arial=""}

  • Two years of technical college or related education from a technical school is required, AND
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience performing a wide variety of routine and complex computer repair work demonstrating proficient knowledge of the information technology structure and applications utilized by The Salvation Army and experience performing advanced computer hardware and software installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision. OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to travel throughout the Southern Territory as needed in order to perform the responsibilities of the position.

Ability to read and comprehend technical terminology in order to train others in applying the same.

Ability to keypunch information into a computer.

Ability to conduct and lead group presentations.
