The Role

As a Senior Planning Engineer you will have the opportunity to interact with others in and outside of the organization, and work with facilities and data centers. And also the planning of the implementation or planning of initiating projects that place customers and network equipment within our network facilities and data centers. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business. This role reports directly to Director Infrastructure Planning and is considered an Individual Contributor position. The Infrastructure Planning and Implementation team you will be a member of is close-knit, supportive of each other and values the challenging work and diversity of thought.

Location

  • This position is fully remote work from home within the US.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Manages floor space, power, and cooling for regionalize network facilities/data centers.

  • Oversees rack space and power implementations at network facilities/data centers.

  • Kicks off space and power projects into engineering and PM groups.

  • Develops/defines plans for the implementation of new plant construction or modifications to existing facilities.

  • Prepares plans and specifications, to include gathering field data.

  • Assures that the most feasible, practical and economical means to complete the work are utilized. Provides cost data to support capital planning and budgeting.

  • Monitors and controls project expenditures.

  • Resolves interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years professional experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 6+ years equivalent experience within network facilities, data centers, and colocation activities

  • Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities

  • Ability to prioritize with good time management skills

  • Strong data/economic analysis skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Detail oriented with an intense focus on quality

  • Proven track record as adept and effective project manager

  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and communications skills

  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Access, Visio and SQL

  • Skilled in planning and/or engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of related experience in telecommunications around facilities, data centers, and colocation activities

  • Experience in an engineering role that included a substantial business/financial focus

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$80510 - $107340 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$84740 - $112980 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$88980 - $118630 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$93210 - $124280 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
