In AUBURN (Cayuga County) NY: Our client - major Social Services / government agency, promoting and protecting the health and well being of families and the larger Cayuga community they serve - is searching for a Social Services Attorney to support their legal team on a year-long contract/project basis. The ideal candidate for this role will be an admitted Attorney (NY State bar, active and good standing) and bring a background in relevant litigation and service oriented work. Responsibilities include: working underneath guidance of a County Attorney to address legal problems arising within the scope of county government operations, potentially acting as Sexaul Harrassment Officer for the County and exercising some supervision over subordinate employees.

Responsibilities:

• Research and provide advice on various legal matters pertaining to county government

• Use independent judgment to apply legal knowledge to specific problems and take appropriate legal action

• Act as a liaison between the county and the Department of Social Services, providing counsel as needed

• Supervise the work of subordinate employees and ensure compliance with county policies

• Practice law with a high degree of professionalism, adhering to all New York State laws and regulations

• Conduct research analysis to support case preparation and legal actions

• Utilize knowledge of salary structures and pricing to provide best value for the county

• Implement county policies and ensure they are understood and followed by all employees

• May act as the Sexual Harassment Officer for the County, providing counsel and support in such cases.

• Possession of a Law Degree is essential.

• Demonstrated knowledge of legal procedures and terminology.

• Proven experience in policy development and implementation.

• Capacity to undertake comprehensive research and analysis.

• Proven ability to exercise independent judgment in complex legal scenarios.

• Experience in preparing legal documentation and initiating legal action.

• Knowledge of county government procedures and regulations is beneficial.

• Capacity to counsel and provide guidance on legal matters.

• Ability to supervise and lead a team.

• Proficiency in practicing law in a professional setting.
