The Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta is an acute and residential treatment facility providing balanced, top-notch clinical care to children, adolescents and young adults. We provide a carefully-structured and supportive environment, and our education program is accredited through the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta (LCCA) is recruiting fantastic educators for the Academic Teacher opportunity. Must be a resident of the state of Georgia or South Carolina border.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • deliver quality educational services to both psychiatric and chemically dependent child and adolescent patients ages 5 to 17.

  • focus on meeting the patient’s individual educational goals and objectives.

  • develop and implement an educational plan that meets the needs, interests and abilities of the student’s IEP.

  • establish clear procedures for the teaching of all objectives; communicate these objectives and procedures to all students.

  • demonstrate through documentation and implementation, adherence to the District Plan for Exceptional Students.

  • provide organized lesson plans to Lead Teacher for approval, as required.

  • structure the classroom environment to conducive to learning and appropriate to the needs and interest of the students.

    Qualifications

    Total education, Licenses or Certifications:

    Bachelor's/ Master’s Degree in an Educational related field required. Current State Teacher certification.

    Experience:

    Classroom experience in public or private sector required. Experience in organization or health with emotional and learning problems; assessment, planning, organizational, evaluative, and interpretive skills.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    21 years of age at minimum; time management and interpersonal skills; skills in applying a variety of instructional methodology with special populations; precise written and oral communication skills, record keeping skills, public speaking or presentation skills; must also excel at decision-making and problem-solving skills.
