Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with department leadership and clinicians to develop and deploy machine learning algorithms and data analytics to improve patient care and efficiencies.

  • Building machine learning models to analyze medical images.

  • Maintain project code in Github.

  • Work with clinicians to understand clinical workflows and algorithm requirements.

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and members of the research group in the area of machine learning, computer vision and natural language processing.

  • Use frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow to develop state of the art machine learning pipelines.

  • Perform statistical analysis in languages including R and Python.

  • Publish research in top AI and Ophthalmology venues (JAMA Ophthalmology, Nature, NeurIPS, MICCAI, etc.).

  • Contribute to academic writing for grant applications where necessary.

  • Independently drive projects to completion.

  • Provide data science expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, data management, data analysis, and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of biomedical investigators and clinicians on new research activities across a wide range of disciplines.

  • Serve as a resource to PIs and other stakeholders.

  • Lead and mentor a small team of junior staff on projects to ensure highest quality and on-time deliverables.

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to high school, undergraduate, and graduate interns on current trends in artificial intelligence and machine learning in medical imaging.

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, machine learning, or a related field.

  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/professional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Intermediate Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, machine learning, or a related field.

  • One (1) year of experience in machine learning applied to computer vision and medical image analysis.

Senior Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, machine learning or a related field.

  • Two (2) years of experience in machine learning applied to computer vision and medical image analysis.

Principal Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science or a related field.

  • Three (3) years of experience in machine learning applied to computer vision and medical image analysis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Experience with multimodal approaches for image and text alignment, specifically for object detection in images.

  • Experience working with medical imaging data such as fundus photographs, OCTs, computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging.

  • Track record of publishing research in top AI-related venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, CVPR, MICCAI, etc.).

  • Experience in programming with Pytorch or Tensorflow.

  • Extensive experience with technologies such as Bash, Linux, Git, SQL, and Docker.
