Job Description

WSP seeking a full time Litter Patrol/Ground Custodian candidate that is interested in working at the E-470 Public Highway Authority.

Schedule and hours: Tuesday-Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm

Compensation is $18.00 per hour

Position reports to the Administrative Headquarters located just south of I-70 on E-470.

The Full Time Litter Patrol/Grounds Custodian provides grounds custodial services by removing trash, litter, and carcasses (Smaller animal removal may be required while there is a service is in place for large animal removal) and other debris from the E-470 Toll Road right-of-way (ROW) through the entirety of the year. The Custodian will be required to operate a vehicle for access to and from the work area, load bags of litter on the vehicle, and transported to a central collection point and deposited into dumpsters. The ground custodial responsibilities will be done by walking the road right-of-way collecting litter and trash and depositing into plastic bags. Work is outside, year-round, in all weather conditions.

Work Locations: E-470 roadway from I-25 in the south to I-25 in the north, plus all intersection areas.

Grounds Custodian may be reassigned on a permanent or temporary basis to other locations, other shifts, or other schedules, to balance manpower or meet the needs of the company.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes litter and debris removal by walking the road right-of-way collecting litter and trash and depositing into plastic bag. These bags will then be loaded into a vehicle and transported to a central collection point and deposited into dumpsters. Small animal carcass removal may also be required.

  • Operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Keeps company motor vehicle clean, fueled and inventory intact.

  • Perform required paperwork and maintain daily logs and incident reports.

  • Maintains a clean, professional appearance and demeanor. Practice and ensure safe work practices at all times. Work in all kinds of weather conditions while maintaining safety to yourself and others. Punctual and dependable work attendance required.

Job Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to lift and not to exceed twenty-five (25) pounds and place in the bed of a company vehicle.

  • Must be able to discern dangerous situations and work safely in highway traffic work areas.

  • Must be able to perform constant physical labor which includes walking, standing, gripping, lifting, twisting, carrying, and pulling/pushing outdoors in all weather conditions for full shift.

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

  • Must be able to use Microsoft windows, Outlook, and Word and Excel on a daily basis.

  • Must possess a valid, up-to-date Colorado License and have an excellent driving record.

  • Must be able to frequently communicate to the Communication Center and others using a Push-to-Talk Radio and cell phone.

Skills, Knowledge, Equipment & Other:

Requires the ability to walk, stand, grip, stoop, bend, lift, carry, twist, pull/push while working in an outdoor environment to include all types of weather conditions and traffic situations. Must have good oral and written communications skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Maintaining hand written logs and reports. May be required to work overtime on both a scheduled and emergency basis. Subject to after-hours recall which may be due to but not limited to emergencies on the road, weather conditions, illness. Must be able to communicate proficiently in English.

Education and Training:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Supervisory/Technical Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
