Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing specialized knowledge and sophisticated research techniques examining inflammation-related signaling by intestinal epithelial cells.

  • Design and implement projects relating to the laboratory's overall research program.

  • Analyze, interpret, and fully document experimental results

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment

  • Prepare data and manuscripts for publication

  • Prepare grant proposals to obtain independent post-doctoral funding

  • Actively participate in and present data at group meetings, journal clubs and conferences

  • Work in conjunction with the PIs and other lab staff to achieve programmatic goals

  • Meet with the project Principal Investigators on a weekly basis for the purpose of progress updates and mentoring

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • A doctoral level degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD) in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, or related field from an accredited institution.

  • At least one first-author publication in an internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journal.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Candidate must be willing and able to work with laboratory animals and animal tissues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate Training in a biomedical laboratory setting, studying immunology, molecular biology, and/or cell biology

  • Experience and knowledge of the immune system and lymphatic system is essential

  • Expertise and experience in cellular imaging using immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy and multi-photon microscopy of lymph nodes or other tissues including familiarity with software programs related to data analysis of images (IMARIS, Slidebook, Zen) are desired.

  • Experience with tissue processing for sectioning, mounting, and staining for imaging, or tissue processing for staining and flow cytometry is desired and will be taught.

  • Experience or demonstrated familiarity with flow cytometry and flowjo analysis software.

  • The applicant should be acquainted with animal husbandry procedures and be comfortable handling animals.

  • Other basic molecular biology techniques are desired such as Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, cloning or other protein experience.

The University of Colorado-Anschutz medical campus is seeking a talented and motivated Post-doctoral fellow in the field of Immunology with an emphasis on immunology and/or molecular biology. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology or a related field. Experience in Immunology and/or molecular biology is preferred. As an important member of the basic science research team, the post-doctoral fellow will work on projects related to dendritic cell trafficking and signaling mechanisms. This position will be part of the Immunology Program, a collaborative research program at the University of Colorado that integrates basic and clinical science with the goal of determining mechanisms of immunology that relate to infection, autoimmunity, and cancer. This multidisciplinary approach fosters collaboration between key personnel from different departments and divisions of the School of Medicine to provide novel research outcomes. This position reports directly to Beth Tamburini, PhD and is responsible for developing, executing and analyzing data from research projects aimed at understanding processes of dendritic cell trafficking following infection and the signaling mechanisms involved.
