General Description:Performs advanced (senior-level) work in areas such as inventory control, purchasing, mail operations and building management. Work involves complex office functions to include compiling and tabulating data, checking documents for accuracy, handling and transporting documents and/or stock and inventory, processing, and delivery of mail for the three Finance Commission agencies, and maintaining files. Works under limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Job Duties: Oversees warehouse operations, including stocking and issuing materials, equipment, supplies, merchandise, and/or other inventory. Oversees the receipt and tracking of inventory or retail merchandise shipments and the loading and unloading of stock and merchandise. Issues or ships supplies to headquarters and regional locations. Reviews and maintains records of purchases, assigns inventory numbers, and monitors inventory and stock control records following loss prevention and agency guidelines. Maintains files for all incoming open purchase orders. Creates purchase orders as requested. Delivers or picks up documents, supplies, equipment and/or materials. Performs routine building and equipment maintenance. Arranges for repairs and services. Assists with arranging, scheduling, transferring, and displaying of surplus property. Performs mailroom services including the processing of outgoing mail, incoming mail, distribution of mail for the three Finance Commission agencies, and verifying/signing for all certified mail as required. Performs other work as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Qualification: Inventory and Store Specialist IV Graduation from an accredited High School or equivalent. Two years general stores experience including property accounting and inventory control; experience working in a mail room; must have a valid Texas drivers license and a satisfactory driving record. Inventory and Store Specialist V Graduation from an accredited High School or equivalent. Three years general stores experience including property accounting and inventory control; experience working in a mail room; must have a valid Texas drivers license and a satisfactory driving record. Special Requirements: Must possess a vehicle capable of transporting supplies and mail. Registration, Certification or Licensure: A valid Texas drivers license required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of rules for handling mail; methods and procedures used in purchasing, receiving, storing and issuing stock; of standard warehouse procedures; of procedures used in keeping inventory records and maintaining adequate stock levels. Knowledge of routine building maintenance methods and procedures. Knowledge of inventory methods. Skill in the use of normal office equipment to include personal computers, fax machines, photocopiers and mailing equipment. Skill in minor repair and maintenance related to job assignment. Skill in the safe operation of a vehicle. Skill in oral communication. Ability to classify and identify stock by sight; to keep complex stock records and prepare related reports; to maintain adequate stock levels; to understand and follow departmental policies and procedures; and plan the arranging and rotating of stock. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers; and to deal with the public. Physical Cognitive Requirements:The physical demands described here are represented of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
