ASM Global Maintenance Technician II in Austin, Texas

ASM, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician for ASM/The Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex.

This position functions under General Supervision of the Operations Manager. He/She will be responsible for the overall repair, operation and continued maintenance of the facility. This will include all semi-skilled tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding, and minor electrical.

Essential Duties Include but are not limited to:

Responsible for full venue maintenance including bowling, skate zone, arcade, food court/kitchen, theater, function room, external grounds, and administrative areas.

  • Record and log all work performed, complete work order slips, and compile all required reports in a timely and complete manner.

  • Compiles thorough, routine and special reports for Operations Manager. Prepares recommendations on findings and evaluation of systems.

  • Oversees and assists in the set up and break down of venue events (furniture removal, staging preparation, floor conversion, and theming.

  • Ability to operate (or willingness to learn) venue equipment, such as light trucks, pallet jackets, forklifts, scrubbing machines, or other light power-driven equipment. Possession of current licenses/certifications a plus!

  • Organizes and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

  • Ability to open and close the facility during operational hours scheduled.

  • Some knowledge of (or ability to learn) all laws, codes, local ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management and emergency procedures and ensure that they are reinforced at the facility.

  • Possess a basic understanding of the capabilities of electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Serves as the secondary point of contact for all precautionary and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems. Follows and adheres to all safety precautions and procedures.

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, floorplans and other related materials.

  • Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment and initiative.

  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form. Bilingual language skills a plus but not required.

  • Must be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma/GED required as a minimum. Bachelor’s degree or vocational training preferred. Relevant employment history or equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable. Previous experience in a commercial or public facility is a benefit.

Skills and Abilities

Strong oral and written communication skills a must. Ability to maintain a neat, professional appearance. Practical experience in the use of a desktop or laptop computer. Must be able to compute simple math, weights, and quantities. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floorplans, and other schematics as needed.

Other Qualifications

Must be able to work an irregular schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays for special events. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to pass a US criminal background check. Must be authorized to work in the US. Bilingual language skills a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk, climb, hear, bend, and stoop. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Should also be comfortable in a noisy environment. Protective gear provided when needed.
