General Description:

The Multimedia Communications Specialist supports TVC's Communications goal to inform veterans across the state of Texas of the free services available to them through an array of platforms including website, social media, and traditional media. This individual works as a creative, multimedia storyteller using graphics, photography, and videography. The successful candidate will be responsible for the illustrative design layout of agency reports. * *

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

40% - Graphics Design and Report Layout for Program-specific or Agency-wide Projects

· Design graphics with TVC branding style for social media, event flyers, signage, and other agency needs

· Design and layout the TVC Texas Benefits Booklet, biennial reports, and program brochures

  • Edit copy for accuracy, grammar, spelling and punctuation

· Research, design promotional items and work with the finance department to produce and order outreach materials

40% - Videography/Photography for Agency-wide, Outreach or Special Events
· Provide photography for assigned external outreach events or internal communications * Shoot and edit videos for outreach efforts to include social media campaigns and for dissemination to traditional media 10% - Edit website content

· Upload articles, photos and videos into website content management system

· Update website when requested by TVC Programs and perform routine site audits and ongoing maintenance

10% - CAPPS Internal Procurement System

· Order promotional items and department equipment through internal procurement system

Education:Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, or a related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

College Transcripts are required, it is preferred they be attached to the application.

Minimum Experience: Two (2) years designing multimedia graphics, shooting and editing video, and other communications and public information related activities. / / Additional Requirements:  A valid Texas Driver’s License must be provided within 90 days of hire.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Knowledge of news and communication media; various social media platforms; editing and preparing informational material; design principles

· Ability to design communication plans and materials related to the goals and priorities of the agency, to compose usable content for websites and social media, to design broad communications plans and materials, and to communicate effectively

· Knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

· Knowledge of the use of Adobe Creative Suite (such as InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop), and/or similar type software, including Canva

· Knowledge of the design, illustration, and production of publications or other informational and educational material

· Knowledge of drafting, editing, and preparing publications and reports

· Knowledge of graphic visualizations of data, presentations and copy layout

· Skill in editing and proofreading online and print materials for accuracy and completeness

· Skill in website design and/or development and maintenance

· Skill in the creation of print materials from concept to final production stage

· Ability to design communication plans and materials related to the goals and priorities of the agency

· Ability to oversee and/or supervise the work of others.

*Environmental & Physical Conditions: * Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
