Johns Hopkins University Associate or full Professor of German (Tenure-Track) in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Johns Hopkins University seeks to appoint at the rank of Associate or full Professor a scholar of German with a distinguished research record, an international reputation, and experience in program direction. The program in German is committed to the philosophical exploration of literature from 1700 onward.

The candidate should have broad background in German thought and literature in a comparative and interdisciplinary context and demonstrated specialization in the 18th and 19th centuries. Desirable fields of expertise include: the relation of art and politics; literature and science from the Enlightenment onward; and the German encounter with Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Projected start date: July 1, 2022.
