Responsibilities

Lead assigned staff in performing activities or task in pharmacy services.

  • Lead or coordinate shift operation of assigned activities, resources, and/or associate.

  • Serve as a technical or functional resource and perform similar duties with staff.

  • Assign, monitor and review progress of work.

  • Monitor and report compliance with policies and/or procedures.

  • Oversee and evaluate orientation and training of assigned associates.

  • May provide input in the review and evaluation of staff performance.

  • Oversee daily activities of the Pharmacy 3-Technicians under the direction of the pharmacist and management.

  • Participate in problem solving within the department.

  • Assist with specialty projects and tasks as assigned by Pharmacy Management.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following required:

  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specificexperience required.

Additional Preferences

  • Technician registration with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy is required. Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) from an accredited organization is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical calculations, drug classifications, and medical terminology.

  • Familiarity with pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.

  • Knowledge of medication compounding procedures and aseptic techniques.

  • Familiarity with drug interactions, contraindications, and side effects.

  • Skilled in measuring, packaging, and labeling medications accurately.

  • Strong communication skills for daily interaction with other healthcare professionals and colleagues.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.

  • Knowledge of patient privacy laws and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
