Collins Aerospace is looking for Associate Engineering Manager (M3) to lead a department of systems and software engineers focused on complex surveillance product development for CNS department. The team has responsibilities for the product life-cycle activities from Systems and Software Verification. This team works closely with product development groups that specialize Surveillance Systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic roadmap actions for best cost engineering growth, working closely with all stakeholders (strategic business units, central engineering units and shared functions)

  • Responsible for department objectives settings, talent acquisition, new employees onboarding, learning & development, performance management, and career development for a multi-site distributed team.

  • The candidate should show the ability to motivate and empower a team through passion and enthusiasm.

  • An individual in this role will interface with technical and non-technical personnel across many business areas within Collins Aerospace as well as external customers requiring excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Candidates must have strong technical, organizational, and leadership skills as well as a good project management understanding to enable predictable execution by the team.

  • Contributes towards building high performance teams that meet organization expectations on Cost, Schedule, and Quality through global benchmarking.

  • Creates Competency frameworks and drive development plans supporting strategic actions plan. Follows defined competencies models that are in line with business priorities and relevant to individual career aspirations.

  • Follows & encourages to use CORE methodologies and Collins Management System for engineering execution.

  • Travel as needed, could be up to 20%.

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Education: BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech ComputerScience/ECE/Avionics/Aeronautical,

  • Minimum 10 years overall relevant experience (at least 8 years in avionics domains) – preferably from CNS

  • Should have experience with program management, project management, engineering design & development and certification covering complete product life cycle.

  • Must be able to demonstrate experience in leading a team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in developing and delivering complex products

  • Significant domain knowledge of products and systems in CNS

  • Hands on experience in Embedded System Development.

  • Significant software development experience in one of the following programming languages: C/C++, Python

  • Comprehensive experience in all phases of product development life cycle, including project management, lab infrastructure management/Procurement, risk management and stake holder management.

  • Strong Project Management skills. Ability to work and meet stringent project deadlines.

  • Strong sense of personal responsibility in accomplishing the organization's goals within the deadline

  • Expertise in simultaneously managing multiple teams and projects.

  • Expertise with Configuration Management and Change Control Process.

  • Good understanding of Automotive or Avionics certification standards or process, such as DO178B/C, MISRA C

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and execute strategies. Have intensive and diversified knowledge of standards/procedures to meet customer requirements, project schedule and costs.

  • Acts as consultant and trusted adviser to internal senior management and/or business partners on the implementation or operationalization of compliance programs. Establishes and oversees training and audit / assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls.

  • Drive building of robust competencies around the functional areas and implement standard processes across the organization.

  • Designing & implementing systems, policies & procedures to facilitate continuous process improvements to ensure we implement best practices across the organization.

  • Drive organizational development initiatives: Talent Management; Performance Management; Change Management.
