If you are driven by the challenge of designing highly scalable distributed systems, Azure Data, Intelligence and Fundamentals IDC team is looking for a passionate software engineer to join our Driver services team. More than 1 billion devices run Windows and device drivers are critical components of the operating system. 

Microsoft Hardware Dev Center is the platform for all driver developer to sign and publish drivers to windows systems. High-quality device drivers are key to a great experience in Windows, and we engage closely with our hardware partners to deliver drivers at scale. The team’s mission is to enable publishers to have a seamless and reliable experience to submit and distribute drivers to the ecosystem. 

Our highly collaborative team is expanding to build more features to support this critical mission for the current and future generations of the Windows operating system. We operate in the cloud, focusing on building and enhancing driver servicing platform, managing long-running orchestrated workflows, and refining web and API-based partner interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross team stakeholders to capture user requirements, incorporate insights into future developments.

  • Deliver high quality system design that meets service reliability, performance, scalability requirements.

  • Write well designed code with an emphasis on quality, maintainability, scalability, and performance.

  • Use debugging tools and methodologies proactively and reactively to ensure product robustness.

  • Maintain operational integrity of live services on a rotational, on-call basis. Act as a DRI for system monitoring and issue resolution.

Qualifications

Required qualifications (need to be quantifiable):

  • Computer Science BS/MS degree OR related technical field with proficient in programming in languages such as, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java, or Python.

  • 5+ years of software development experience in building low latency high throughput services.

  • Proven experience in developing large-scale distributed systems utilizing cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a track record of working on service-oriented products.

  • Awareness of agile software development methods and best practices, including delivering software features in phases.
