Northern Light Health Imaging Information Associate in Bangor, Maine

Position Summary: The Imaging associate is an essential team member in the imaging department. This support staff position assists with disposition of imaging records and other clerical responsibilities. The imaging associate works closely to assist doctors, technologists, and sonographers with various tasks to ensure efficiencies in the provision of quality care.

Brief summary of job duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Assist and provide support to coordinator, director, physicians in clerical and administrative duties

  • Extensive customer service and phone utilization

  • Computer keyboarding

  • Review of information on electronic monitors and patient records/charts/forms

  • This position requires standing or walking 80 percent of the day.

  • This position requires interaction with patients of all ages, family members, physicians, healthcare professionals, clerical staff and students.

Education/Experience Preferred:

  • Associates degree in Health Information Technology or other technical college education or the equivalent in work experience and continuing education preferred.

  • Two years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

*Other Skills Required: *

  • Must be familiar with PCs and able to work with multiple technical systems, simultaneously

  • Keyboarding 35 wpm

  • Medical Terminology required or course completed within 8 months of hire date.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work with all patient age groups

  • Work shift will include weekend and holiday rotation.

Physical Requirements: Extensive customer services and phone utilization; finger-wrist repetitive motions; utilization of a computer/keyboard; reaching items on the floor; stretch to reach overhead equipment to a height of 5 feet above ground level and reaching across countertops; lifting 20 lbs. to a height of 3 feet. Must be able to stand and walk 80% of the day.

Working Environment: high paced office atmosphere. Working with video display terminals for up to 80% of an assigned shift; working with hazardous materials and equipment; may be exposed to patients with communicable diseases, purulent discharges and excretions.
