Position Summary:

Offers guidance and assistance to the Clinic Coordinators in the absence of the Manager. Works with the Volunteer Clinic Medical Director to assure quality care. Assures that volunteer positions are filled for each assignment and remind volunteers prior to clinic night.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1.

Uses independent judgment to exercise authority on behalf of the Volunteer Clinic, or effectively recommend such action in the following areas:

A. Responsible for assigning work to employees and volunteer staff and directing the workflow in area of jurisdiction.

B. Attempts to resolve employee and patient complaints/concerns.

2.

Directs personnel and oversees functions in accordance with all fiscal and professional policies of the corporation.

3.

Informs practitioner of seriously ill patients immediately

4.

Anticipate patient needs when planning discharge instruction; educate patients and families accordingly.

5.

Monitors the care rendered in urgent medical situations; directs other staff as necessary.

6.

Demonstrates the ability to perform all tasks as required in the assigned practice sit with the exception of those requiring special licensure. Such tasks may include but are not limited to:

A. Lab Procedures including:

  • Blood Draw

  • Completion of lab controls

  • Urine specimens’ collection

B. Care of equipment, including washing, sterilization

C. Clinical testing, including:

  • Audio screen, spirometry, EKG, vision testing, including color vision.

D. Assisting the practitioner with patient exams and procedures.

E. Performing routine maintenance tasks such as:

  • Keeping a clean work area (lab and patient) at all times

  • Monitoring inventory and restocking work areas as needed

  • Initiating work orders to repair unsafe or malfunctioning equipment

  • Reporting facility and management problems

F. Assisting in follow up care of patients

7.

Attempts to resolve employee and patient complaints/concerns;

Works with the Medical Director, practitioners, staff, and volunteer staff to assure quality patient care.

9.

Ensures all services are available as presented to the public.

10.

Participates in performance improvement activities.

11.

Provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to department standards, as evidence by observation, documentation, and peer feedback.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid

Michigan

Registered Nurse License or Licensed Practical Nurse

  • BLS

issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification
