Job Description

AECOM's Belfast Structural Engineering Team has an immediate requirement for a Civil Engineer to assist our senior civil engineers with the production of designs, modelling and the preparation of technical drawings. This role will see the successful candidate working primarily on the civil engineering aspects of large and complex building projects. The filling of this position aligns with the Company’s growth strategy within Building Engineering and the diversification of the Belfast Structural Team, which delivers work both locally, nationally and globally, as well as offering technical support to the wider AECOM business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and working closely with Senior/Principal Engineers, providing support to the Team and wider business, ensuring projects are delivered on programme, to budget and to a high quality.

  • Key to this role is the ability to provide a high standard, client focused service which results in on-going satisfaction, resulting in repeat business.

  • Applying the procedures and protocols of the company’s quality assurance system to your working approach and project delivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Familiar in the design of storm and foul drainage networks, including the application of SUDS and attenuation systems; preferably with experience in the use of Micro-Drainage, or similar modelling software.

  • Experienced in the design and specification of roads and pavements, including sub-base make-ups for variable sub-grade and ground improvement conditions.

  • Skilled in the design of reinforced concrete retaining walls and the application of other proprietary retaining systems.

  • Knowledgeable in the application and processes involved in obtaining statutory approvals in respect of discharge consents and applying these statutory requirements to relevant civils designs. With the added ability to converse verbally and textually with statutory bodies to obtain information and directives needed to develop compliant designs.

  • Accomplished in the used of Autodesk AutoCAD or Civils3D in the preparation of civil engineering design drawings.

  • Have a general understanding of building structures and their servicing requirements, specifically those which relate to the design and specification of the civil engineering infrastructure across the wider site.

Preferred Qualification:

  • +3years experience within an UK or Irish civil engineering related infrastructure environment; likely to be in the form of a private consultancy, government or related statutory body.

  • Civil Engineering degree, CEng(Hons), Meng(Hons), or equivalent, with an aspiration to work towards Chartered status (MICE).
