Key job responsibilities

  • Work with the product and development teams within Alexa Mobile to understand the product vision and requirements.

  • Work with Product Managers, BI engineers and Software Engineers to design, implement and support high quality data products.

  • Partner with other teams across Alexa to ingest relevant datasets into the Alexa Mobile BI data-warehouse.

  • Collaborate with other data engineers within the team to build a data platform that is self-service and possesses key capabilities like data discovery, data lineage, proactive data monitoring and security/compliance monitoring.

  • Leverage and manage AWS services like Bedrock, Sagemaker, S3, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, Lambda, Data Lake etc..

  • Conduct workshops and lunch-n-learn sessions to educate customers on product capabilities.

About the team

The Alexa Mobile BI team is the BI/Analytics team that supports the Alexa Mobile business. We are responsible for building data products (datasets, dashboards, ML models) and the underlying data platform, that enable the business to make informed decisions.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Bellevue, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with SQL

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

  • Experience with Apache Spark / Elastic Map Reduce

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

  • Knowledge of batch and streaming data architectures like Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, Storm, Beam

  • Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy

  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers on best practices pertaining to data engineering

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
