The Tracking Team at LinkedIn is responsible for instrumenting & collecting accurate data of how LinkedIn users interact with our web & mobile applications. Data scientists use the tracking data to gain business insights, Product Managers use them to understand customer behavior and AI engineers use them to build relevance models to improve our products and services. Inaccurate data severely impacts decision making at LinkedIn. We collect data which is revenue sensitive and it is also used to report core 4 metrics of the company. We are building a next generation Tracking platform to efficiently collect interaction data for our billion plus users cutting across multiple technology stacks (mobile, applications, infrastructure) and generate insights in near real time.

This role will be based in Bangalore

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership by architecting and building large-scale distributed systems.

• Design, optimize and implement distributed systems keeping security and compliance in mind.

• Own the technical strategy for broad or complex requirements that requires collaboration across orgs and solve large open-ended problems.

• Act as a role model, provide architectural guidance and mentorship to up-level the engineering organization.

• Work closely with leadership and influence the technical roadmap of multiple initiatives.

• Actively improve the craft of the org by defining, developing and implementing best practices

• Follow industry trends and incorporate them whenever required.

• Influence the open-source community.

Basic Qualifications:

• B.Tech / B.E (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience.

• 13+ years of industry experience

• Experience in mentoring/leading junior engineers

• Experience architecting, building, and running large scale systems

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Expert knowledge in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design, architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 13+ years of relevant work experience with 6+ years in a technical leadership role.

• MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline

• Experience working with open-source projects and/or academic research in large-scale distributed systems.

• Proven track record of delivering large scale distributed systems to production. Ability to distill complex technical solutions into understandable literature and influence leadership.

• Experience in leading cross-org, cross-functional efforts and successfully delivering transformational technology for hard problems.

• Deep expertise with Hadoop or related ingestion, streaming technologies in Big data ecosystem (e.g. HDFS, YARN, Spark, Trino, Gobblin, Kafka, Flink) or with distributed databases.

• Experience in application or leveraging AI in solving complex technical problems, and delivering it latency aware production systems.
