Job Description Summary

The GE Aviation Staff Engineer provides consultation and technical direction to the Product support engineering community on near term and longer-range projects with substantial business impact in Fleet Hardware Management.

Job Description

Staff Engineer - Fleet Management is responsible to provide technical leadership to the in service technical management of assigned product components, sub-systems or modules throughout the product life cycle. Key responsibilities include, monitoring and internal/external response to the in-service performance of the assigned hardware relative to product requirements with respect to safety, reliability, durability, cost of ownership and customer technical advocacy.

In this role, you will report to Sub-Section Manager, GEnx PSE Engineering –Services Engineering, JFWTC, Bangalore. In addition, you will interface with organizations such as the Engineering Departments (Design, Repair, Analytics, MAE and MPED, etc.,), MRO shops, Digital Services Solutions (DSS), CSA Operations, Aviation Operations Center (AOC), Customer & Product Support Organization (C&PSO) and GRC based on business need.

  • Acts as technical interface between GE Internal organizations and Airline/MRO shops.

  • Own and maintains the ICA documents for respective hardware's (ATA’s), this includes responding to technical inquiries, author Service Bulletins and support customer technical communication.

  • Lead Safety & reliability Programs and Provide Technical support

  • Project management of Fleet Technical programs, TAT , Services Productivity projects

  • Deliver Customer Satisfaction / Build relationships

  • Prepare and Present the technical content for Tech Reviews/Customer meetings/LIF discussions

  • Deliver timely and accurate field containment plans and work with the expanded engineering team to develop field fix design solutions

  • Lead business initiatives for field issues and cost of ownership goals

  • Provide support for Time On Wing (TOW) objectives and Customized Service Agreements (CSA)/ Cost Margin Reviews (CMR) reviews around hardware ownership

  • Round the clock availability on need basis to resolve critical field issues (eg AOG, Work scope Mitigation, Work stoppage)

  • Drive change by demonstrating clear thinking, articulate roles & responsibilities, manage handoffs between different organizations.

  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and customer commitments.

  • Foster and inspire a collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors /Masters/PhDs in Mechanical Engineering specialization with strong academic track record.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Aviation Engines or Turbo machinery engineering positions with expertise in Fleet Hardware ownership and Systems engineering

  • In-depth understanding of ICA process, Services engineering technology/tools

  • Strong engineering problem solving capabilities

  • Strong project management skills including cross-functional coordination of activities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both internally and externally

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering

  • Previous experience in a product or customer support role

• Experience with TOPS8D, engine field problem resolution
