The VC group are responsible for performing the Independent Price Verification (IPV) which revalues the firms' positions using independent market data as inputs. As a team we are uniquely placed delivering a set of risk and pricing solutions for Finance. We work cross asset and have exposure to Strats, Trading, Finance and desk facing IT teams. There is scope to have significant interaction in all these areas.
We are engaged with all parts of the valuation lifecycle including valuing products which are not booked in risk (analogous to pre-trade pricing workflow), calibrating market data for use in valuations, and running scenarios on firm risk positions. We focus on delivering solutions for our clients, innovation, inclusion, giving back to the community and sharing knowledge. Job Profile We run defined projects on a per asset class basis which have a beginning and an end. For example, a given team may work on a commodities IPV automation and when this is finished will transition to work on a loans IPV automation. This provides constant learning opportunities across different asset classes.
We are looking for a team lead who can manage a team of 8-10 and can manage complex deliveries across the valuation lifecyle. The team works in an agile model whereby developers interact with key stakeholders across the firm in design and implementation. You should be comfortable working with and across departments within the firm. There is scope for the role to grow and for you to lead much bigger projects spanning Finance and Market Risk Management.
We reuse and extend the front office valuations platforms. We constantly have new requirements to keep pace with new business, valuation model changes and regulatory demands. This is a great opportunity to learn the trading business at a global scale, understand the data model of various trades cross asset, and to develop valuations platforms for both risk and pricing.
Primary Skills We are looking for a technical lead (9-15 years), with strong software design, solid code development and good problem-solving skills. You should
have prior experience in the financial industry and knowledge of at-least one financial product be a hands-on coder and willing to primarily work with Scala. We also work with Java and Typescript using Angular. Scala is desired but not required and we can provide training to learn Scala be technical and curious be able to drive large-scale projects, break them down into smaller deliverable pieces and proactively manage all diverse stakeholders be willing and able to train and help the junior team members to improve their technical ability and give them hands-on technical guidance demonstrate strong core computer science concepts around logic building, data structures, algorithms, system architecture/design Good To have Skills Have excellent written and communication skills Career Background in CS-B.Tech/B.E Morgan Stanley is an equal opportunities employer.
