Position Overview:

Under supervision is responsible for the preparation , cooking , quality and presentation and service of food for patients, cafeteria, and catering events.

Job Description :

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Must be able to exhibit and sustain good customer relations skills towards patients, employees, supervisor/managers, volunteers and visitors.

  • Prepares, cooks , evaluates, garnishes and places food inproper containers to meet food service deadlines.

  • Responsible for adherence to menu and standardized recipes for procedures, quality, appearance and quantity of food prepared for meal service.

  • Responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation during food preparation, including personal work area as well as utensils and equipment.

  • Responsible for checking production sheets to determine amounts of food to batch cook or retherm. for catering and the cafeteria.

  • Responsible for total food production, quality and presentation of food assigned during shift.

  • Must follow all established guidelines with regard to safe food handling and the prevention of food borne illness.

  • Must be able to function as a team member, able to take direction and able to follow job through to conclusion.

  • May cashier in the Renick Campus cafeteria. Must be able to exhibit good customer relations skills. Must be able to operate the cash register and balance sales receipts and original bank

  • Must be able to exhibit good customer relations skills.

  • Accepts responsibility for adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Accepts responsibility for other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

  • Other: One or more years in a college program or culinary academy preferred.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • Three years experience on-the job-training as a cook or cook's helper.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to meet and greet customers pleasantly and courteously.

  • Ability to maintain good customer relations.

  • Must be able to interpret and execute menu and orders for special diets.

  • Must be knowledgeable in food production and batch cooking.

  • Must be able to utilize portion control and be able to read and follow standardized recipes.

  • Must be knowledgeable in safe food handling practices and procedures.

Pay Range is $31.03 to $37.09 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
