The Cigna Group Cloud Engineering Principal in Bloomington, Minnesota

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Cloud Engineering Principal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, with specific expertise in Kubernetes and AWS. This role will be pivotal in driving our cloud strategy, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our cloud environments.

You will have direct customer impact by supporting underlying infrastructure that runs my.cigna.com serving millions of customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of self service cloud infrastructure

  • Oversee the deployment and management of multi region kubernetes clusters, ensuring optimal performance and availability.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the rest of the team

  • Drive continuous improvement in cloud practices, including automation, monitoring, and incident response.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends to ensure we remain at the forefront of cloud innovation.

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of applications in the cloud environment.

  • Manage cloud budgets and optimize cloud spend

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering or related fields, with a strong focus on AWS.(Google Cloud, Azure)

  • Extensive experience with Kubernetes, including cluster setup, management, and troubleshooting.(EKS, AKS, Kops, Openshift)

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing cloud solutions at scale.

  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.

  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform (Cloudformation, OpenTofu, Pulumi)

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Golang,(Rust, Bash)

  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools like ArgoCD, Github Actions, Gitlab CI, (Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis CI)

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with service mesh tools such as Gloo Mesh (Kong Mesh, Istio)

  • Experience with self service catalogs such as Backstage

  • Understanding of FinOps principles

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 158,100 - 263,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
