Summary Statement

Idaho IceWorld is Idaho's premier indoor family ice skating and entertainment center featuring two NHL Regulation-Sized Ice Rinks. The ice rinks are accommodating to all hockey, figure skating and public skating programs.

The Maintenance Tech at Ice World:

  • Performs general maintenance and repair to buildings and grounds at Idaho Ice World.

  • Assists with a wide variety of construction, custodial, ice maintenance, building upkeep, and related duties.

  • Performs litter clean up and various cleaning solutions to maintain Idaho Ice World appearance.

  • Works under immediate/direct supervision.

Essential Functions

Performs general maintenance and repair to buildings and grounds. Inspects facilities for damage and areas in need of repair. Performs mechanical duties, carpentry, painting, masonry, and custodial maintenance. Utilizes various cleaning solutions and solvents to clean buildings, equipment, and other facilities. (50%)

Performs maintenance on the ice surface. Operates equipment including Zamboni, floor cleaners and other medium equipment. Maintains ice surfaces on schedule as outlined by the Ice Maintenance Lead and related functions related to repair and maintenance of the facility. Maintenance will include specific ice surfaces like dry cut, wash water cut, regular ice cut and well as evening surface flood and early morning cuts. Empties trash receptacles and picks up litter. (30%)

Provides oversight as directed to seasonal staff, volunteers and other part time employees. (15%)

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience performing facilities maintenance and repair.

Knowledge of: facilities maintenance including minor electrical, plumbing and construction methods; safety standards; hand and power tools; general landscape care; ice surfacing maintenance cutting; protective gear and safety equipment; and computer skills.

Ability to: complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training

Four years of experience performing facilities maintenance duties to include minor electrical and plumbing duties.

Licensing And Other Requirements

Valid state issued driver's license.

Physical Efforts

While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds, frequently lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, smell and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, runn, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment

The work environment will include outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical hazards and work in/at heights. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals.
