Software Engineer Responsibilities:
Research, design, develop, build and test infrastructure-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed systems.
Develop a strong understanding of relevant infrastructure-as-service product area, codebase, and systems.
Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming, and software engineering.
Produce high-quality code with good test coverage and maintainability.
Build new features and improve existing products.
Work on problems of diverse scope and design core backend software components.
Handle large scale data storage, synchronization and coordination of large server clusters that process terabytes of data per second.
Receiving little instruction on day-to-day work, code using primarily C/C++, Java, PHP and Hack.
Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa.
Conduct design and code reviews.
Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.
Complete medium to large features (each with many tasks) independently without guidance.
Identify and drive changes as needed for assigned codebase, product area and/or systems.
Participate in team on call rotation that supports large-scale distributed systems.
Identify and solve production issues using internal monitoring and metrics systems.
Telecommuting is permitted from anywhere in the U.S.

Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, or related field. Foreign equivalent accepted. Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, or internship involving the following:
- Coding in C, C++, Java, or C#
- Creating web applications using Python, PHP, or Ruby
- Implementing web interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, or CSS
- Conducting design and code reviews.
Public Compensation:
$180,960/year to $200,200/year + bonus + equity + benefits
