S&P Global Associate, Sponsor Finance in Boston, Massachusetts

Team: The S&P Global Sponsor Finance Commercial Team is responsible for optimizing relationships and commercial outcomes with our Private Equity and corporate private issuer clients. We are a close-knit team and collaborative team to brainstorm solutions that help our clients overcome their complex business challenges. The team is competitive, fun, energetic, and intellectually curious.

The Role: The Sponsor Finance Associate is responsible for supporting the development of and relationships with private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, as well as supporting senior professionals across all facets of the business. The Associate is responsible for engagement with both cyber and sustainable finance objectives in the sector.


  • Support commercial aspects of S&P Ratings’ relationships with a set of Private Equity prospects and Private issuers.

  • Develop market-based insights to position Cyber & ESG products into Private Equity firms and Private companies while providing high touch client service to communicate S&P’s value proposition

  • Implement creative sales strategies through understanding of private market drivers, client culture, identifying key decision makers, and influencing decision-making process.

  • Diagnose and understand customer objections and identify ways to address and overcome.

  • Gain access to new stakeholders and develop “trusted advisor” relationships.

  • Utilize communication and negotiation skills to gain user acceptance.

  • Track customer & industry trends to better position our services.

  • Utilize and maintain Salesforce data to monitor pipeline and opportunity status for goal management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics or related field preferred)

  • 2+ years of sales or financial services experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred

  • Sales experience to related client set (Private Equity / Private Markets)

  • Rating Agency Experience

  • Cyber Risk and Environmental Social & Governance (ESG) experience

  • Knowledge of finance and accounting principles

Compensation/Benefits Information:

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $59,800 - $118,900 plus performance-based incentives. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
