The Lab Processing Technician:
Performs pre-analytical specimen processing including stamping in, verifying I.D., identifying tests, and evaluating specimen quality and appropriate test set up.
Performs computer order entry and inquiry functions.
Provides courteous and timely customer service to providers calling into the lab.
Performs, documents, and evaluates daily QC and follows procedure when QC is out of range.
Performs routine operation and maintenance of instrumentation in the work area such as centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers.
Maintains workplace in a neat and orderly fashion. Continuously monitors specimen workflow. Ensures quick response for STAT and other timed tests.
Participates in departmental continuous improvement projects as necessary.
Shift: 3pm-11:30pm rotating weekends and holidays
To qualify, you must have:
High School/GED required.
Bachelor's degree in Science-Based STEM disciplines preferred.
3 months of experience required.
Skills to read and understand instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters.
Ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.
